The Mabon:

Turn your sun dial back 12 years… In 2006 we hosted the final Festival of the Mabon on Planet Bluegrass. It was a magical day along the St. Vrain River with some of our favorite artists in Celtic music, marking the weekend of the autumnal equinox (the “Mabon”).

This year, for the second time since that final Mabon Festival, Irish music again takes center stage, as we welcome JigJam from the heart of the midlands in Ireland to the intimate Wildflower Pavilion. Join us for a special day of camping, Mabon revelry, and Celtic virtuosity, as we celebrate the turning of the season here on Planet Bluegrass.

After several talked-about sets at the 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Festival, we’re excited to welcome the energy-fuelled, foot-stomping Irish quartet to our Mabon Celebration in Lyons...

"The words sparkling, innovative and infectious come first to mind, beyond that you get into an unadulterated display of accomplished musicianship, skill and talent’” (Folkwords) JigJam are a multi-award winning quartet from the heart of the midlands in Ireland. Blending the best of traditional Irish music with Bluegrass and Americana in a new genre which has been branded as 'I-Grass' or "CeltGrass", their onstage energy along with their virtuosic musical ability has captivated audiences throughout the world. All four members grew up immersed in Irish traditional music and culture which is reflected by the band collectively achieving over 20 All-Ireland titles. They have now developed their own unique style of music influenced by American Folk music whilst staying true to their Irish roots. Described as 'The best Irish group so far in bluegrass’, this sharply dressed outfit swap between banjos, guitars, fiddles, mandolins and double bass onstage. "Here's an Irish band that's going to impact the world as hard as Clancy Brothers or U2 if they get only half a chance” (Midwest Records)
