(PHP) And with one final fiddle break on the Monroe classic, "Old Dangerfield," The Greencards closed the 2008 Planet Bluegrass season with grace, fire, and beauty. Thanks to everyone who joined us this fall for our series of intimate concerts in the 300-seat Wildflower Pavilion on the Ranch in Lyons. We're already looking forward to more shows next spring and fall.

With the Ranch quieting down for the winter, we're hard at work on lineups and logistics. Mark your calendars for the 2009 festivals (see dates at left) and for the upcoming online lotteries: Town Park camping at Telluride Bluergass (November 10-18), RockyGrass Academy (November 10-18), and on-site camping for RockyGrass (November 24 - December 7). We'll have complete lottery rules and information in a few days. All other 2009 tickets go on sale on December 10.

Despite a day and a half of intermittent rain, the 18th Annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival ended with triumph after triumph. We curled up with friends under layers of tarps and wool, singing along with some of the world's most important songwriters - Greg Brown, KT Tunstall, Nanci Griffith, Amos Lee, Patty Griffin, Dar Williams, Josh Ritter, Todd Snider, Greg Brown, The Waifs, The Mountain Goats, and many many more. Stories and music were uniquely intertwined all weekend. If you joined us, take a minute to or share your thoughts on the Festivarian Forum. Then make your plans to join us this fall in Lyons in the Wildflower Pavilion.

Just a few months ago John Cowan was singing in a tent outside our offices; Mike Marshall was talking about diminished chords; Tony Trischka was sharing a story about Ornette Coleman; and "Bill Monroe" was mentioned in nearly every sentence. The 36th Annual RockyGrass was another fascinating weekend of bluegrass. Join the lively dialog in the Festivarian Forum. And mark your calendar for the 37th RockyGrass - July 24-26, 2009.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for a spectacular 35th Telluride Bluegrass Festival – featuring Paolo Nutini, Ryan Adams, Bruce Hornsby & Ricky Skaggs, Yonder Mountain String Band, Sam Bush, Béla Fleck, Hot Rize, The Swell Season, and many more. The weather, the music, the mountains, and the magic were all on-hand to wish Telluride a Happy 35th. Mark your calendars for #36 - June 18-21, 2009.

In 2007, Governor Bill Ritter, jr. declared June 23 Colorado Bluegrass Day - honoring Planet Bluegrass for "using renewable energy to help protect our environment while producing a world-class festival." This honor reflects our years of leading the way in sustainable festivation and the green festival movement in America. Share your thoughts in our new sustainability blog.
